Question: What do you NOT do on National Day's eve?

Answer: Watch a half baked horror effort which goes by the name of Skinwalkers.

And who better to tell you this than the idiot who did just that?

That's right, me.

Skinwalkers talks about a group of cursed beings, lycanthropes, who are divided by two different beliefs. One group craves human flesh and the other wants to save humanity...blah blah blah, it's the whole good versus evil thing all over again.

According to ancient prophecy, a young half breed will possess the power to end this curse on his 13th birthday when the moon turns red. Thus begins a 'race against time' all out war when the evil leather-clad and harley riding(what a cliche to spell badass) pack realizes that such a boy actually exists.

Frankly, I can't begin to tell you how painfully funny the movie was.

The special effects were...wait, what special effects? In the words of a friend of mine, "the stunts looked like child's play and the werewolves, in all their glory, looked a little like the Ah Mengs at the zoo but with sharper teeth and way kinkier."

Kinky how? Well, let's just say that after interrupting a pub full of men during their attempt to rape the bar maid (how that is relevant to the story, I will never know) and then feasting on them, evil werewolf leader, Varek, and his sexy second in command, Sonja, proceed to do the nasty.

And if this sounds ridiculous, there's more. Amidst the promisingly steamy scene, Sonja's howl of satisfaction abruptly cuts off to a sunrise - an anti-climax which propels a male member of the audience to verbally express his utter disappointment, a reaction the censorship board lives for I'm sure.

So far, the storyline is crappy, the acting is well...passable and the special effects are non-existant. But you must be thinking that Skinwalkers can't be that bad. There has to be a redeeming quality to the movie which took 13 years in the making right... right?

Hmmm, the only thing good and puzzling about the movie I guess, is that the actors were kinda hot.

Who knew werewolves could be this hot?

Just to name a few, Natassia Malthe who played Typhoid plays Sonja. And remember that sci-fi hit back in the late 90s, Roswell? Well, Jason 'look at my smouldering eyes' Behr from Roswell makes a sudden and might I say, disappointing comeback and plays Varek the evil.

But hey, who am I to complain? I'm just the unfortunate sucker who caught the movie.

UrbanWire gives it 2 out of 5 popcorns.
